The MEGA Lab is a research collaboration among Drs. Haunani Kane (UHM), John Burns (UHH), and Cliff Kapono (ASU), dedicated to developing technologies that protect our oceans and providing them to communities. To support this collaboration and its mission, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization MEGA Lab was established.

Operating independently of university operations and utilizing no state resources, MEGA Lab 501(c)(3) supports university research and mission-driven, community-based scientific initiatives, including programs like Map2Adapt, Observe & Conserve, and Party for the Planet. All contributions are directed toward advancing scientific research with meaningful local and global impacts in sustainability and conservation.

MEGA Lab upholds stringent transparency and accountability standards, clearly distinguishing its operations from state-funded activities.
